Vale Kevin Sutton.
It is with great sadness that we convey the news of Kevin Sutton's passing.
Kevin was a life member of the Canterbury Referees Association - CRA and Marrickville FC, and received the Vince & Val Laws Medal in 2016 in acknowledgement of his exceptional contribution to the local game. He also received a Football NSW State Award that same year.
Our thoughts are with Kevin's family, friends and the football community at this time.

Thankyou so much for your mentorship on and off the pitch Kevin. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
Knew him from my Marrickville Red Devils days in the late 70s...great service to our game...No doubt he will be sorely missed...condolences to the family, may he RIP π
This one is sad. Such a really humble guy who mentored so many of us coming through the ranks for years. Condolences to his Family. May he Rest In Peace.
Icon of the district. He’ll be well remembered. Vale Kev. Thoughts with his family
Oh such sad news. Kevin was larger than life, and he brought that great smile with him. He will be missed. Condolences to his family.
So sorry to hear of Kevin's passing Spent many amusing afternoons when my dear husband Jim Skuthorpe was assessing him Condolences to his family Fay Skuthorpe
Such sad news. Condolences to his family and the wider football community. I was lucky enough to have referred many games with Kev. This kind, funny guy will be missed by all in the wider football community
Rip big Kev! I remember being a referee over 15 years ago and he was always encouraging the younger kids to persist with refereeing and always so proud to see us appointed to state league games. Then as a referee he was always an honest and fair referee. You will be missed!
A character that was larger than life.
Big Kev always bigger than life. You will be sadly missed π
One of the true legions of football, on and off the field. Kevin will be sadly missed.
Canterbury Referees Association - CRA referees had the privilege of observing the FIFA Women's World Cup referees train at Sydney Olympic Park yesterday. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to go behind the scenes to observe the FIFA referees go through their paces ahead of this week's tournament.
A big thanks to Football NSW for providing this opportunity to our referees!

So envious. They have been really generous with these opportunities!
what a wonderful opportunity, so progressive of Football NSW, only wish Football Qld would do something similiar
Eliza shows much promise both as a player and match official. Eliza is a great role model for other junior members wishing to join the ranks. Keep working at it Eliza! ππEliza Skinner ~ Canterbury Referee Association Referee
Eliza started playing for Marrickville FC in 2011, joining with one of her friends in an under 6 team. Eliza currently plays in the Under 17-19 Womens team, made up of many of the girls she started playing with in the under 8 girls. Football has given Eliza the opportunity to play alongside some of her closest friends. She grew up in Marrickville and loves being part of the community.
While Eliza is a great player on the field, she is exceptional as a CRA Referee!
In 2019 Eliza started to referee in the Marrickville Summer Competition. Her older sister, who was also a referee, encouraged her to undertake the Level 4 Course and join the CRA.
Eliza is currently a Level 3 Referee and has been officiating on the Referees Development Panel with Football NSW. She wants to continue and hopefully make it to referee NPL, A-League and maybe even FIFA.
Eliza highly recommends becoming a referee to anyone who plays football. The CRA welcomes everyone to become a referee and encourages as many people as possible to join.
We look forward to seeing Eliza's career as a Referee and hope to see her officiating a Womens World Cup game in the future!

STATEMENT:
The Canterbury Referees Association is sickened by the incident resulting in the alleged serious assault of a referee in a match at Padstow Park on Friday, 28 April.
The referee involved is not a member of the Canterbury Referees Association.
Violence towards referees and other match officials has no place in our game. The CRA stands by the Bankstown District Football Association to promote a safe and enjoyable environment for all players, managers, coaches, volunteers, and match officials.
We wish the referee involved a speedy recovery.
As the matter is now the subject of a police investigation, we are unable to comment any further on the incident.
